LIFE SKILLS
The Life Skills program is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that promote the initiation of substance use and other risky behaviors. This comprehensive and exciting program provides adolescents and young teens with the confidence and skills necessary to successfully handle challenging situations.
This program components build self-esteem, self-management skills, social skills, and communication skills. The Life Skills program is implemented in school and community settings. This program is designed for elementary and middle school students, with the content being grade appropriate.
LEADERSHIP SKILLS
Leadership Skills are built by inspiring personal growth and development through building positive character traits and leadership qualities.
The youth in the program have multiple opportunities to learn leadership skills.

ABSTINENCE
Making A Difference! An Abstinence Based Approach to Prevention of STDs, HIV and Teen Pregnancy provides young adolescents with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), HIV, and pregnancy by abstaining from sex. It is based on cognitive behavioral theories, focus groups, and the researchers' extensive experience working with youth.
To reduce STD/HIV and pregnancy risk-related behaviors, young adolescents need not only knowledge and perception of personal vulnerability, but also positive attitudes and beliefs regarding abstinence, abstinence negotiation skills, and confidence in their ability to abstain from sex. This abstinence curriculum is designed to meet those needs.
The Target Audience for this program is youth in grades 5-8.
It is the goal of this program is to empower youth with:

increased knowledge about prevention of HIV, STDs and pregnancy;

more positive attitudes/beliefs about abstinence;

increased confidence in their ability to negotiate abstinence;

increased negotiation skills;
-
stronger intentions to abstain from sex.
HIV PREVENTION
Becoming a Responsible Teen (BART) is an HIV prevention curriculum for high school students.
This program empowers teens with knowledge about:

HIV (definitions, transmission, testing and prevention)

How drugs and alcohol use may influence sexual decision making

Correct and consistent birth control use

Problem-solving skills

Communication styles (assertive, passive and aggressive)

Avoiding situations that could lead to unhealthy sexual decisions
